Certificate in Alcohol Awareness

The CAA has been designed in response to a Government initiative to raise awareness of issues linked to alcohol consumption by young people. The aim of the qualification is to increase learner’s knowledge of the harmful effects of alcohol and what constitutes sensible drinking.

The course also has access to on-line materials for both learners and tutors. The course is accredited at level 1 of the NDAQ.

The qualification consists of the following units:

  1. The nature of alcohol and the strengths of different alcoholic drinks
  2. How alcohol affects the body and dangers of drinking too much
  3. The effects of binge drinking and alcoholism
  4. The risks of irresponsible drinking to sexual health
  5. The dangers of drink-driving and drug-driving
  6. Basic licensing laws and offences
  7. Drugs and offensive weapons on licensed premises
  8. How the licensed retail sector promotes responsible drinking
  9. How the licensed retail sector contributes to the National and local economy.

Course details and entry requirements

The course is delivered over 1 day including a 30 minute, 25 multiple choice questions examination.

The cost of this course is £76.38 per candidate and includes VAT, materials, resources, tutorials and examination.
