Award in Responsible Alcohol Retailing - ARAR
The ARAR course is designed for any person wishing to enter, or currently
working in the licensed retail sector.
The course has the added advantage of demonstrating to local authorities and the Police that any member of person having this qualification has
demonstrated competency in their legal responsibilities of the sale of alcohol.
This qualification is accredited at level 1 of the NDAQ.
The qualification consists of the following units:

The nature of alcohol and the effects on the human body
- The main issues of the Licensing Act 2003
- Licensing Law in relation to the protection of children from harm
- The social responsibilities relating to the retail sale of alcohol
- How to recognise drunkenness, and an individual’s duty not to serve a
person who is drunk
- Appropriate strategies that can be adopted to prevent or eliminate
alcohol-related crime and conflict; and the importance of personal
safety.

Course details and entry requirements
The course lasts for approximately 4 hours and includes a 30 minute, 25
multiple choice question examination.
The cost of this course is £76.38 per candidate inclusive of VAT, materials,
resources, tutorials and examination.
