SIA Training - National Certificate for Door Supervisors (NCDS)
The NCDS course is designed for any person wishing to gain an SIA licence
to work in the private security sector in the United Kingdom.
The NCDS is appropriate for any person wishing to work in any of the
following roles:
- Retail Security Officer
- Manned Guarding
- Static patrolling
- Door Supervision

- Key Holding
- Director of a security company
- Non-front line staff in any sector

The course is recognised as a benchmark for the training required to satisfy
SIA licensing conditions.
The course is accredited at level 2 of the NDAQ.
There are 2 units each candidate must take to gain the full NCDS
qualification.

Unit 1: Roles and Responsibilities
This qualification consists of the following units:
- Policies and procedures
- Refusing entrance
- Searching
- Seizing articles
- Eviction
- Use of force
- Offensive weapons
- Dealing with and recording incidents
- Legislation and compliance
- Drugs
- Arrest
- Report writing
| Unit 2: Conflict Management.
This qualification consists of the following units:
- Managing Conflict through dynamic risk assessments
- Understanding the importance of self awareness and being pro-active
- Defusing conflict through overcoming communication blocks
- Signaling non-aggression
- Managing high risk situations
- Resolving conflict
- Learning from conflict

Course details and entry requirements
The course has Guided Learning Hours requirement of 30 hours.
This course
is delivered over 4 days.
There are 2, 1 hour, 40 multiple choice question
examinations.
There is an age and criminality restriction on this course. The minimum
age to complete this course is 18 years of age. A criminal records bureau
check will be completed by SIA to identify candidate suitability post examination.
The cost of this course is £258.50 per candidate inclusive of VAT, materials,
resources, tutorials and examinations.
