Personal and Social Development & Embedded skills

The PSD courses offered are designed to allow learners to thrive in an informal teaching environment whilst embedding key skills (A.L.A.N) into a development plan.

PSD sessions are specifically designed to encourage learners to engage in work related learning. This method of delivery is effective for aiding centres achieve their targets through motivating learners.

Units covered in PSD sessions include:

  1. Employability skills
  2. Motivational techniques
  3. Skills and interests development
  4. Engagement strategies
  5. Project designs

There are specific resources that can be accessed during PSD sessions that have been developed by the Department for Education and Skills to include embedded learning. A wide range of resource vocational areas available include:

  1. E2e
  2. Hospitality
  3. Hairdressing
  4. ICT
  5. Early years (Birth to 7)
  6. Parenting
  7. Food Hygiene
  8. First Aid
  9. Health and Safety (Up to EL3)

Department for Education and Skills tutor packs for the following subjects cover abilities from milestones to Level 2:

  1. Literacy
  2. Numeracy
  3. ICT

A range of written practice tests are also available to correspond with Level 1 and Level 2 A.L.A.N.

PSD courses can be run as a series of defined units or as single day training. There are some specific PSD programmes that have set modules to complete. These modules are:

  1. Skillmap
  2. Employability workshops

 

Course details and entry requirements

Each programme is sub-divided into units.

Skillmap has 12 units and Employability workshops have 18 units.

The costs for PSD sessions vary depending upon the amount of sessions requested, units covered and length of engagement required.

All costs quoted will include materials, resources, tutorials and support.
